Having tied flies for the best part of 40 years my primary interest today is dry flies for trout and grayling. I tie both modern and traditional patterns but my number one interest since many years back is Catskill-style dry flies. To those of us interested in classic dry flies the comparatively well documented history of the Catskill-style dry fly makes for a truly fascinating subject, and for practical fishing these flies don’t just look the part, they also walk the walk. Tied correctly I’ve found that most Catskill style dries makes for excellent fishing flies wherever fish eat may flies, be that in the Catskills or here in the north of Europe.
